WARNING - PHOTO INTENSIVE!!!!
Yesterday, we crossed the bridge to Campobello Island into Canada
to see the East Quoddy (Head Harbor) and Mulholland Lighthouses.
Today, we only had a 5-mile trip from our campground (A) to Quoddy Head State Park (B).
Arriving early, we avoided any crowds:o))
So we will come back later to look inside.
Right now we want to hit the hiking trails!!
Just before the beginning of the Coastal Trail there is a set of steps to the beach.
Of course, we needed to take a quick look around;o))
Back up the steps and here we go…
off along the coastal trail.
This is by far one of the most beautiful and amazing hikes we have ever taken.
I will let the pictures do the talking!!!
(Click on any photo to enlarge it.)
We hiked level ground…
We hiked up hill…
We hiked down hill…
We hiked by streams…
We passed by High Ledge…
Of course, most of the ledges were high!!!
Green Point is about halfway along the Coastal Trail.
It was just as beautiful all the way to the end of the Coastal Trail at Carrying Place Cove!!
We reached Carrying Place Cove which is the halfway point of our hike.
After spending some time enjoying this beautiful cove,
it was time to take the Thompson Trail back through the woods towards the Bog Trail.
We really enjoyed the wildflowers and ferns along this trail:o))
Wish there was a way to attach the smell of the beautiful evergreens!!!
The last part of our hike was the Bog Walk.
We spent quite a bit of time walking the bog boardwalk
The perfect way to spend the day!!!
That looks like a great hike. That light house is really cool.
ReplyDeleteI love the rocky coast of Maine but I miss the sandy beaches of the Carolinas too.

You're going to have to cut back on all these hikes to such beautiful places. You're wearing out your poor camera! ;c)
ReplyDeleteThat was some interesting rails to trails portion of the hike. I'd love to see the train that used those rails. :cD
WOW! That's all I can say. Amazingly beautiful hike and the lighthouse isn't so shabby either :)
ReplyDeleteQuoddy Head lighthouse is my favorite. Love the barberpole effect! Absolutely lovely scenery!
ReplyDeleteGreat lighthouse and coastal pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat is THE most beautiful lighthouse. Can't wait to follow in your footsteps. What a terrific hike. I'm so glad to you got to see the pitcher plants. Aren't they cool?
ReplyDeleteYup - this is on our places to visit on our next trip to Maine.
ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun to follow along with you on your travels. Maine's coastline looks very similar to Oregon's coast.
