Got A Good Report :o)) - Tuesday, September 17, 2013

Two weeks ago, I was sitting in the emergency room waiting to be admitted to the hospital for surgery on my compound fractured left wrist.  Hard to believe, that less than 24 hours later I was discharged with a big old cast, prescription for pain medicine and a follow-up appointment with the surgeon 2 weeks later.

 
Well, today was the day for that follow-up visit and it all went great!! 
 
 
First they removed the big turkey leg cast.
Still a little swollen, but NO PAIN!!

 
 
 
Next they removed the stitches.
Then they taped me together ;o))
 
 
 
That was followed up with a trip to X-ray!!
 
I got to see the plate and screws for the first time.
 
Doctor says it all looks GREAT:o))
 
 
I was given a removable brace. 
Much lighter and more comfortable than the "Turkey Leg" cast!!
 
 
Now, I can shower without a plastic bag on my arm!
 
I get to remove the brace and start some gentle exercises several times a day!!
 
I am just blown away how quickly my arm is healing!!!

    It's wonderful how quickly it is healing! That's because you take good care of yourself and know what to do to minimize negative effects :) Do you go to rehab after the gentle exercises? How will that affect your winter?
    Hoping it all works out the way you want it to...and sure hope Bill is taking good care of you :)

      I already have full function of all fingers and he had me do some rotation movement today. Said it was as good a most people by the end of rehab. He really doesn't think I will need to go to rehab:o)) Like I said, I am just amazed how quickly it has progressed. I go back in a month and if the xray and rotation are all good, he will release me:o)) So my winter is lookin great!!

    Yep. Definitely swollen! Great to hear that you are healing quickly. We do take showers for granted.
