Kayaking The Silver River - Monday & Tuesday, October 3&4, 2016

Just a quick update since I am typing this from our Daughters house in Raleigh, NC.  We evacuated Silver River State Park, Ocala, FL on Wednesday and drove to Cedar Key RV Resort on Florida's west coast and dropped off Baby.  After that, we drove the truck to Murrells Inlet, SC and spent the night in a Hampton Inn.  We picked my Mom up on Thursday and drove to Raleigh to wait out Hurricane Matthew.  So here we sit, safe and sound, watching and waiting!!!

We were headed to The Keys and hopefully we will get down there for the rest of our reservations after all this terrible weather clears out.  Before we left Silver Springs, we were able to kayak the Silver River twice...Monday and Tuesday morning.  It was wonderful as we had the river to ourselves.  It is our favorite paddle and I would just like to share some photos of the beautiful things we got to see.  ENJOY...........

  2. We just heard that Raleigh was predicted to get 7+ inches of rain! Stay safe and dry at your daughters. Nothing is more important than your safety. Glad you could pickup your mom on the way.

  3. Wow you sure saw it all on the river. Such a variety of birds. It's one of my very favorite paddles too. I like to do just what you did. Leave my kayak down there and go every single morning. Really wonderful pictures. Glad you are safe and sound. Hope the 7+ inches of rain doesn't happen. Haven't heard anything about the parks on the east coast. Hi to Julie and another CONGRATULATIONS! She looks great!!

  6. I was wondering where you guys ended up . . . glad you got out of coastal Georgia! The river trip looked like a great time . . . hope you're able to get to the Keys next week! We were able to wait out the storm in Rock Hill, SC, and Nicolas evacuated to here, too.

    1. We use to live in Rock Hill...our kids graduated High School there and I graduated from Winthrop College there. We are still in Raleigh and will stay at least until Monday. Still lots of roads closed near the coast. Power is also out down there. Stay safe!!!

  7. I-95 South is still backed up real bad at the NC/SC border. Be careful. We hope to make it to Murrells Inlet in a couple of weeks. Enjoy the Keys!

  8. We have been concerned about you two. It is a relief to read that you guys and your mom are safe. As I told my daughter who lives in Ft. Myers, "Don't drive through water that covers the road." :-)
