So we came full circle,
back to the South Carolina Beach at Ocean Lakes Campground in Myrtle Beach.

Where we are now hanging out with our children and grandchildren.

Baby, our Winnebago Journey, and us traveled a total of 3268 miles in 2.5 months!!

During our trip we hiked 135+ miles and biked 240+ miles.

Why are these miles important???

Because in  less than 2 hours after arriving at Ocean Lakes,

I had biked less than 100 ft. with our Grand-daughters

and

only managed to ride through one puddle.

Then as we went around the building on the left...

OOPS...

my bike slipped and I went down...

summer trip is over:o((

Yep...I broke both bones in my left wrist and was off to the emergency room!!

Fortunately, the holiday weekend was over so it wasn't crowded.

I was taken right away. It was quickly determined that I had a compound fracture
which would need some plates and screws to repair.

Yes, this is the same arm I just had the Titanium Rod removed about 2 years ago;o)

They made me comfortable over night and about noon on Sept 4, I was in pre-op.

A few hours later, I was back and getting ready to head home!!

So we are back at the campground, with all the family.

My pain is minimal and we are having a great time.

I guess if this had to happen...
better now then in the beginning of our trip!!

My intention was to get the blog updated during the next couple months while we hang out here in the Myrtle Beach area.  Not sure how much of that will happen as I am typing with one hand;o))  They said I only have to have this splint on for two weeks and then a removable splint that will provide protection will be put on.  That way I can start some physical therapy.  So hopefully, I will be back in action real soon!!

Just know...

 we had an amazing summer!!!

You sure had a great summer trip, much better traveling than your first FT attempt. You actually got a chance to slow down and smell the roses.

Enjoy you time in MB. We hope to see you in October.

  8. Ohhh nooo Nancy! I sooo sympathize! Boy does that bring back bad memories. If you had done it in Nebraska, I could've recommended an excellent Physical Therapist. :)

As others have said, your timing was excellent having it occur between trips AND near your family AND where you know the doctors. We know Bill and the rest of your family will take good care of you. Feel better soon!!

  9. Oh no!! Hope you heal very quickly and without any issues!!

When you were in Glenville, NY, you were about 40 minutes away from where we were parked for the summer. It would have been a riot to run into you somewhere. :)

  11. I know it must have hurt when it happened, but you are smiling too much in the hospital bed. Must have been some good meds! Hang in there and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
